![]() As I said above, the switches dropped offline after working well for about a week and couldnt be brought back online, WINK support confirmed that the switches were not viable after several reset attempts. I should have heeded the reviews.ĮDIT.came back after a few months to update this. If you're wanting to purchase these switches dont do it. Wanted to send them back but I dont have any switches to replace them with after spending dollars on these. Its not a matter of simply reconnecting and re adding them as new switches because the reset procedure doesnt work. Bought 6 of these, all worked well for about a week, then stopped working one at a time. Reviewed in the United States □□ on 13 April 2015 The saga of my home automation continues, but I still have this feeling this was the right setup to go with. This time cutting the power didn't fix it either, so the electrician is coming back to see if they can do anything. After I paired all of my items back to the hub (I'll detail that whole thing when I can update my Wink review) I could not get the one that had to have a hard reset to work again. Unfortunately though a few days later my Wink hub crashed as part of the major outage and I basically had to start over again. ![]() I was asked to shut power off to the switches from the breaker and that did the trick to getting them back online. So after about 20 min on the phone with Wink support we discovered that my light switch was part of a group of switches that needed a hard reset. I'm going to try to reconfigure everything tonight and give these one more shot. This kept us from using the switch on our light post on our driveway (disappointingly the one I wanted to use it with the most) and as you can see from the picture left us with three Tapt switches and one regular. One thing that he found during the install is that these don't work with lights on the GFI so it just kept flipping the reset and wouldn't stay on. Self install was pretty difficult, and we ended up getting an electrician to install these for us. Our house doesn't have the requested "red wire" unless we were already working with a 3-way light, which you aren't supposed to use with these switches. My biggest complaint though so far though has been with installation. I don't think that being able to control a smart switch with a smart bulb from either the wall, or switch should be considered a big ask, but maybe home automation just isn't there yet. One will not connect to the app and is only working at the base, and one will not turn on from the wall if its off on the app. Out of the four switches we have installed, two of them don't work properly. Other than the aesthetics, would there be any harm at all in setting them up that way?Īgain, I am ignorant of this stuff but I was able to get one of the Tapts setup in a single switch setup.This product has been kind of disappointing so far. However, I was thinking last night that if I took the nice cover off, they might fit (see photo3). Obviously, with the nice cover around it (see photo2), two Tapts will not fit into the plastic box that is inset into the wall. One controls the fan and the other controls the lights. Like most bathrooms, I assume, I have two switches (see photo1). ![]() Okay, I have two of the Quirky + GE Tapt Smart Switches and I was wondering if I could use them in my bathroom. I will try and include some pictures so there is no confusion as to what I am referring. That being said, I am sorry if I get some of the wording confused. First off, I am not the most knowledgeable person about wiring/electrical stuff.
